Winter Mood

This week, it has snowed for more than 24 hours, creating a winter wonderland rarely seen here at the lake.

Soaking up Summer

June simply has flown by with copyediting my Ice Baroness 2 . On Friday, the manuscript went into typesetting, and I am finally able to take a deep breath, inhaling summer here at the lake.

Lucky Day

When you´ve finally managed to get to the supermarket after a hellish long day, sulking at first because your favorite sushi is (naturally) sold out at this hour – and then you stumble over salak. Resembling the scaly skin of a snake on the outside (therefore also called snake fruit), a garlic bulb on the inside, they taste like a mixture of not quite ripe hazelnuts and pears.

I‘m absolutely crazy about them and I even mentioned salak in my «Fire Island» novel. Usually, they‘re nearly impossible to get around here – but: Salak. Today. In the small supermarket around the corner.

Late Summer

First chestnuts and still wearing shorts. My kind of September.

Twin Pack

It´s always a joy to receive foreign editions of my novels. Especially when there are two arriving in the same week: «Beyond the Nile» in Romanian and «Time of the Wild Orchids» in Russian.
(The latter recommended for age 18+, by the way. Which honestly makes me blush.)
